Destinee Stewart Bio
Destinee Stewart is a director and writer whose work explores identity and transformation, and the tension between fear and freedom. She tells stories about characters who feel like outsiders trapped between the past and the present, trying to break cycles, reclaim themselves, and find home.
Stewart’s most recent film, The Other Partners, premiered in 2024 at the Oscar®-qualifying RiverRun Film Festival. Her psychological horror feature, Wade in the Water, has been supported by BendFilm: Basecamp and the Cucalorus Writing Residency. She is currently developing The Inheritance, a proof-of-concept short rooted in ancestral trauma and erasure, through the prestigious AFI Directing Workshop for Women+.
A Satellite Collective Fellow and advocate for diverse storytelling across mediums, Stewart has also led international dubbing productions for Netflix, collaborating on titles such as Iron Chef, Love is Blind, Represent, and In His Shadow.
