NTGD 2018 is on its way

This year, on Thursday, September 20, 2018, the Women in Film Dallas Scholastic Grant Fund is participating in Communities Foundation of Texas’ 10th annual North Texas Giving Day, a one-day online giving extravaganza for our whole region.

Last year, we were part of the success as Communities Foundation of Texas brought together more than 2,700 organizations to raise $39 million. Since its founding in 2009, North Texas Giving Day has inspired people to give, resulting in increased donations and services provided in North Texas. We invite you to join the movement and help us reach our goal of $5000 on September 20.

Female students attending high schools throughout Texas may apply for up to $500.00 toward creating an original short film showcasing talent and helping to secure future work in the industry after graduation.

Melanie Yonks to serve on 2018-2019 WIFTI Board

Melanie Yonks has been named to the Women in Film and Television International (WIFTI) 2018-2019 Board of Directors. Commencing this spring, Melanie will serve as one of five U.S. representatives on the WIFTI board.

Over the next few weeks, the current WIFTI Board will place the new Board Members in positions based on their areas of expertise.

We congratulate Melanie and wish her well in this next phase of her career.

The 16th annual Flicks by Chicks Film Festival has wrapped, culminating with an unconventional platform in which the festival was spread over two weekends.

The October 21st event included a filmmakers luncheon, script to screen workshop, a filmmaker populated screening and the vibrant awards reception on the rooftop of the Alamo Drafthouse. We continued the celebration of women in film with a filmmakers brunch and lounge and provocative mix of short films on November 4th.

The capacity audiences for both screenings were responsive and reflective during our post screening Q&A's, proving Dallas has the most engaging and thoughtful cinemaphiles!

Libby Villari, a veteran actress of stage and screen, graduated with honors from North Texas University with a BA in theater and has made over 35 films and several television shows. She is best known for her four year run as Mayor Rodell on the acclaimed television series FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, and as Grandmother in Richard Linklater’s ground breaking, 12 years in the making film BOYHOOD that won Best Picture at the Golden Globes, Spirit and SAG Awards in 2015. Her television work also includes GREY’S ANATOMY, CHASE, WALKER TEXAS RANGER and more. She’s played mom to Patricia Arquette, Renee Zelweger and Elijah Wood, and worked with such acclaimed directors as Robert Altman, Clint Eastwood, Alan Parker, Robert Rodriguez, Richard Linklater and Peter Berg. She is represented by Progressive Talent in Los Angeles, The People Store in Atlanta, and The Collier Agency in Austin, and managed by The Green Room in L.A. and New York. She recently returned to the stage to play Ann Richards in ANN at River City Repertory Theater in Shreveport. She splits her time between Los Angeles and her home on a beautiful lake outside Fort Worth.

Keith Alcorn is an Emmy-nominated and Oscar-nominated Producer/ Writer/ Director. For over 30 years Keith Alcorn has been involved in all facets of animation. In 1987 he Co-Founded DNA Productions, Inc. DNA provided script to screen services for Corporate and Commercial clients until they transitioned to the Entertainment Industry and became one of the largest animation facilities in the U.S. Later, Keith Produced and Co-Created the Oscar nominated animated feature film, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius for Paramount and Nickelodeon. Alcorn also served as Director/Co-Executive Producer on the Nickelodeon series, “The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius” before serving as Executive Producer on the feature film, The Ant Bully” for Warner Brothers and Tom Hanks. In 2014 he completed Writing/Directing duties for the hour-long documentary, “Back on Badstreet”. He is currently writing and Directing for two new projects; the faith-based animated series, “Owlegories” and a “Top-Secret” animated feature film he is not allowed to talk about under penalty of death!

Chick Flicks + VideoFest = Fabulous Film!

This year Women in Film Dallas partners with Dallas VideoFest for the 15th Annual Chick Flicks Film Festival.

Melanie Yonks, WIFD Chick Flicks Chair chirps about the program’s growing success, “Partnering with the Dallas Video Festival allows WIFD to expand Chick Flicks to enable us to reach a broader audience to showcase the wonderful work of women filmmakers.” The festival is adding a feature film to the lineup this year in addition to its traditional short films.

Films submitted should be directed by a woman and/or have women in at least two key (above the line) crew positions. Documentary and narrative films under 25 minutes are accepted and deference is given to shorts with a Texas connection.

The Best of Fest and Texas award winners will receive a cash award. Audience Choice winner will receive a prize package. The link for submissions, along with complete list of rules and guidelines is available here.

Funds raised through the Chick Flicks Film Festival support the WIFD Grants and Scholarship Program.

DALLAS, TX – August 31, 2015 – Women in Film Dallas (WIFD) is currently accepting short film submissions for the 2015 Chick Flicks Film Festival through September 4. The 14th Annual Chick Flicks Film Festival will be held October 22 at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas.

“We have received submissions from all around the globe. I am thrilled we have an award-winning panel of judges who have offered their time and talents to review these films,” states Catherine Brockette, 2015 Chick Flicks Chair.

The panel of judges is comprised of Dennis Bishop, Motion Picture Production Chair - KD Conservatory (2014 Topaz Award Recipient), Sylvia Komatsu, Executive Vice President & Chief Content Officer - KERA/KXT, Linda Stogner, Writer/Producer/Performer - Backdoor Comedy/KERA (2012 Chick Flicks Winner and 2003 WIFD PSA Director), and Amy Talkington, Writer/Director - Los Angeles (Previous WIFD Grants and Scholarships Recipient).

The Chick Flicks Film Festival is looking for narrative, documentary, animated, and experimental short films in any genre with a runtime of 25 minutes or less. Films must have been completed after January 1, 2011. The films must have a woman in two (2) or more of the following above-the-line positions: writer, producer, director of photography or editor.

The Best of the Fest and Texas Award winners will receive cash prizes and the Audience Choice winner will receive a prize package. All Festival winners will be announced at the screening on October 22 at the Angelika Film Center Dallas.

Women in Film Dallas is a non-profit organization and part of a global community that empowers, promotes and mentors women in the film, television, and screen-based media industry through networking, recognition, and educational opportunities. Proceeds from the 2015 Chick Flicks Film Festival will benefit the WIFD Grant and Scholastic Fund.

To celebrate 30 years of Empowering, Promoting and Mentoring women in TV and Film, WIFD is launching a November Membership Drive. Our goal is 30 new professional members in 30 days.

For every board-approved Professional or Corporate member that a current WIFD member recruits during the month of November, that WIFD member earns one FREE month of membership. Any active industry professional with at least 5 years of experience and/or 5 verifiable paid credits can apply at the Professional level. Industry companies or businesses that service the industry are eligible as Corporate members. To qualify for your free month, be sure the potential member includes you as the Sponsor on the Membership Application.

Allison Tolman to Receive Topaz Award from

Women in Film Dallas

Allison Tolman - the Baylor grad, co-founder of Second Thought Theatre and award-winning star of this season’s hit series Fargo - will join legendary comic Ruth Ruzzi as the recipient of a Topaz Award, presented by Women in Film Dallas at their annual gala on Nov. 22.

Tolman received an Emmy Award nomination (she lost to Kathy Bates - not bad) and a Critics Choice Award as deputy Molly Solverson on Fargo. She is familiar to Dallas stages, but has spent the last several years in Chicago. Buzzi, of course, is the iconic comedian, best remembered for her days on Laugh-In opposite Lily Tomlin and Arte Johnson.

WOMEN IN FILM DALLAS ANNOUNCES RECIPIENTS FOR THE
2014 GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

DALLAS, TX – October 3, 2014 – Women in Film Dallas (WIFD) announced its 2014 Grants and Scholarship recipients at the 13^th Annual Chick Flicks Film Festival on October 2 at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas. As the local Dallas chapter of Women in Film celebrates its 30th year, the 2014 WIFD Grants and Scholarship Program makes available to female filmmakers two grants and one college tuition scholarship. Since 1991, WIFD has proudly provided 40 women in the North Texas area with a nearly $60,000 in college tuition scholarships and finishing fund grants.

“This grants and scholarship opportunity is an exciting time for women in our industry to celebrate their creative talents. Making these funds available to women who are completing a film or completing their college education in film, embodies our Chapter’s mission to Empower, Promote, and Mentor,” said Angie Thompson, 2014 Grants and Scholarship Chair.

The 2014 $3,000 Film Finishing Fund’s recipient is director/ writer, Courtney Ware for her feature length film, Sunny in the Dark. The story is about the parallel lives of two individuals and the dark places they experience. The WIFD Finishing Grant provides funds for an existing project that is 90% completed and ready for post production (or finishing) services.

Lauren Cater, a documentary film maker and MFA student at the University of Texas Denton, is the 2014 Scholarship recipient. The $3,000 College Tuition Scholarship provides financial assistance to a female college student majoring in film, television, or video production at an accredited North Texas college (undergraduate or graduate). Lauren is currently pursuing her higher degree in documentary film, after completing her undergraduate degree in film and television at UNT.

Jade Basinski, a 12th grade Greenhill student, is the 2014 recipient of the $500 High School Production Grant. The high school grant gives a female high school student the means to create an original short film (4 – 10 minutes). Jade’s animated projects have already established her as a stop motion filmmaker. Her films have screened at the Texas High School Division of South by Southwest in 2013, the High School Division of the Dallas International Film Festival, and the Asian Film Festival of Dallas.

RUTH BUZZI TO BE WOMEN IN FILM DALLAS HONOREE

DALLAS, TX – October 5, 2014 – Award-winning actress and comedienne, Ruth Buzzi, will be one of this year’s Women in Film Dallas (WIFD) honorees at the WIFD Topaz Awards on November 22, 2014 at 7 for Parties in Dallas.

Currently residing in the DFW area, Buzzi is a Golden Globe Award winner, Television Hall of Fame Inductee, NAACP Image Award winner, and 5-time Emmy nominee. Known best for her character, Gladys Ormphby, on Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-Inand Dean Martin Celebrity Roast, Ms. Buzzi was a regular performer on Sesame Street as Ruthie the Finders Keepers shopowner. Before graduating from Pasadena Playhouse for the Performing Arts with honors, she earned her Actor’s Equity Union card at age 19 launching a career that has included theater, television, feature films, music videos, and commercials, for which she won a Clio Award. After nearly 60 years in entertainment, Ms. Buzzi continues to work and is active in fundraising for the Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch in Medina, Texas.

Women in Film Dallas, celebrating its 30^th anniversary, established the Topaz Awards in 1987 to honor distinguished Texas women and men who, through their own vision, have made outstanding contributions to the film and television industry. Previous honorees are a veritable who’s who of Texans in the entertainment industry, including Linda Gray, Phylicia Rashad, Cyd Charisse, Larry Hagman, Ginger Rogers, Dale Evans, Linda Ellerbee, Debbie Allen, Peri Gilpin, and Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden.

This year, we have selected Dwell with Dignity, a group of interior designers and volunteers dedicated to creating, soothing, inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. They provide and install home interiors for impoverished families including furnishings, art, bedding, kitchen supplies, and food in the pantry. Their attention to interior details takes these families out of survival mode and into a place of positive emotional living.

Frame of Mind Brings WIFD Filmmakers to KERA

Women in Film Dallas is excited to announce its members will be featured in the upcoming KERA programming series, FRAME OF MIND.

Frame of Mind was created by WIFD's Suzanne Dooley and Marlis Schmidt in 1991. The series has since been produced by Bart Weiss of the Video Association of Dallas since 1995.

On September 11th, the short film by WIFD's Iris Lopez, Cielo Lindo, will be featured.

On November 20th, Episode 12 celebrates 30 years of Women in Film Dallas, and will air various films from the Chick Flicks series. The show features Duck Food, directed by Dewey Taylor and produced by WIFD member Sara Roberts; Raspberry Jam, directed by WIFD's Courtney Ware and produced by WIFD member Meredith Burke; and The Long Run, directed by Laura Lilia Treviño and David Garcia.

ALLISON TOLMAN TO BE WOMEN IN FILM DALLAS HONOREE

DALLAS, TX – August 18, 2014 – Emmy nominee and Critics’ Choice Award winner, Allison Tolman, will be one of this year’s Women in Film Dallas (WIFD) honorees at the WIFD Topaz Awards in Dallas on November 22, 2014.

Kerri Navarro, WIFD Topaz Chair, said, “We are delighted to make this announcement. Allison was selected because of her diligence to craft and career. WIFD Topaz Awards celebrates achievement, dedication, and trailblazing. Allison is the embodiment of that and more.”

Tolman, a native of Sugarland, Texas, is a 2014 Emmy nominee and Critics’ Choice Award winner for her work as Deputy Molly Solverson on the FX series, “Fargo.” After graduating from Baylor University, she moved to Dallas, Texas where she co-founded Second Thought Theatre. In 2009, she was accepted into Chicago’s Second City’s Conservatory Training Program. Before her work on “Fargo,” Tolman wrote and performed sketch comedy and satire with several groups in the Chicago area.

Women in Film Dallas, celebrating its 30th anniversary, established the award ceremony in 1987 to honor distinguished Texas women and men who, through their own vision, have made outstanding contributions to the film and television industry. Previous honorees are a veritable who’s who of Texans in the entertainment industry, including Linda Gray, Phylicia Rashad, Cyd Charisse, Larry Hagman, Ginger Rogers, Dale Evans, Linda Ellerbee, Debbie Allen, Peri Gilpin, and Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden.

DALLAS, TX – July 21, 2014 – Women in Film Dallas (WIFD) is now accepting short film submissions for the 2014 Chick Flicks Film Festival. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Women in Film Dallas is pleased to present the 13th Annual Chick Flicks Film Festival on October 2nd at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas.

The 2014 Chick Flicks Chair, Leah Chen Baker, is looking forward to receiving submissions, “This year, I am thrilled to announce that the Festival will introduce cash prizes, a national judging panel, and an expanded program!"

The Chick Flicks Film Festival is looking for narrative, documentary, animated, and experimental short films in any genre with a runtime of 35 minutes or less. Films must have been completed after January 1st, 2012. Festival categories include: Female Filmmakers and Flicks by Texas Chicks. Female Filmmakers is open to shorts directed by a woman, or if women are in two (2) or more of the following above-the-line positions: writer, producer, director of photography or editor. Flicks by Texas Chicks requires all of the above and ties to Texas.

Submissions are accepted now through August 28th, 2014. Early Bird registration ends on July 31st, 2014. Accepted film selections will be notified by mid-September 2014.

Cash prizes and awards will be announced at the screening on October 2nd at the Angelika Film Center.

The Best of the Fest winner will receive a $1,000 award.

The Best Student Film winner will receive a $300 award sponsored by Black Irish Girl Productions. (A current and valid student ID is required.)

The Texas Award and Audience Choice winners will receive prize packages.

Women In Film Dallas will sponsor a screening of the feature film, HELLION on Sunday, June 29th at 5:30 p.m. at the Texas Theatre. The screening will include the short film version of HELLION prior to the feature (a 2014 Sundance Official Selection - US Dramatic Competition). Immediately following will be a Skype Q&A with director, Kat Candler.

WOMEN IN FILM DALLAS LAUNCHES ITS
2014 GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Dallas, TX - April 7, 2014 - Women in Film Dallas (WIFD) launches it 2014 grants and scholarship cycle for women in the North Texas area. As the local Dallas chapter of Women in Film celebrates its 30th year, the 2014 WIFD Grant and Scholarship Program makes available to female filmmakers two grants and one college tuition scholarship. Since 1995, WIFD has proudly provided 36 women in the North Texas area with a total of $32,000 in college tuition scholarships and finishing film grants. The deadline for submissions is Monday, June 30, 2014, with the announcement and celebration of winners taking place at the Annual WIFD Chick Flicks Film Festival in October.

“This grant cycle is an exciting time for women in our industry to celebrate her creative talents. Making these funds available to women who are completing a film or completing her college education in film, embodies our Chapter’s mission to Empower, Promote, and Mentor,” said Angie Thompson, 2014 Grants and Scholarship Chair.

The $3,000 Film Finishing Fund Grant will be presented to a current Women in Film Dallas member to help complete an existing project. Finishing Grant applicants will be asked to submit an existing project that is 90% completed and ready for post production (or finishing) services and the funds will be paid directly to the finishing providers the filmmaker chooses.

The $3,000 College Tuition Scholarship provides financial assistance to a female college student majoring in film, television, or video production in an accredited North Texas college (undergraduate or graduate). The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient's college.
The $500 High School Production Grant is intended to give a female high school student the means to create an original short film (4 – 10 minutes) to showcase her talent that might help secure future work in the industry after graduation.

Once again, we are calling on our members for your ideas and input! The PSA script contest is now open to our wonderful members. Scripts have to be 30 seconds and PG content to be aired on local stations. Please watch last year's PSA here and email your scripts to psa@wifdallas.org by May 1st.

We are also in need of crew (DP/Sound Mixer/Gaffer, etc.) The shoot is a one day volunteer event (date TBD in May/June) with other members and we will do our best to get the PSA aired on local stations and beyond! If you are available and would like to help, please send us an email.

This is an EXTRA SPECIAL screening with HAPPY HOUR BEFORE and AFTER the film - so come early and stay late to network. Girl Girls Girls is a compendium of shorts where six filmmakers were awarded $1000 each to make a film. The filmmakers were given only two rules: 1) it had to be written, directed, produced, shot, and edited by women, and 2) the finished product had to express what "feminine strength" meant to the filmmakers.

WIFD 2012 Elections!

Are you looking to challenge yourself, meet like-minded women, work towards a common goal, educate the community about new pressing issues in the film industry, provide scholarships to deserving individuals to continue their education or finish a current project, or just want to have fun? Then a seat on the Board of Directors of Women In Film.Dallas is the place for you. We are currently recruiting and accepting nominations for the 2012-2013 open Board seats and want you to nominate yourself or someone that you think would be a great candidate.

Nominations are due by 5:00pm Friday, November 18th.
Nominations should be no more than 150 words in length, describing why the candidate would be a great fit for the WIF.D Board of Directors. Elections will take place via anonymous electronic ballot. In order to run for a Board seat or to vote for new Board Members you must be a current member of Women In Film.Dallas.

OFFICER POSITIONS Available for Nominations (1 Year Term):

PRESIDENT: Oversees the day to day functions of the organization, acts as the representative of the organization as needed for public speaking opportunities and an ambassador for the organization, runs the monthly Board Meetings, works with the Board to create engaging and educational programs and opportunities or the organization's members and various other duties as necessary.

VICE PRESIDENT: Assists the President with all duties outlined above, performs public speaking opportunities and promotion of the organization in the President's absence and various other duties as necessary.

SECRETARY: Keeps the minutes of meetings and members, is the custodian of corporate records and documents, and performs those duties incident of Secretary .

TREASURER: Responsible for all monies due and payable to the organization, keeping accurate receipts, and depositing funds.

BOARD SEATS Available for Nominations (2 Year Term:)

MARTINI MADNESS (2 positions): Martini Madness chairs are responsible for throwing networking parties and our annual holiday bash.

MEMBERSHIP (1 position): The membership chairs are responsible for hosting the annual membership drive in September of each year, maintaing the organization's membership databases, welcoming new members, creating membership cards, sending out renewal notices and working with expired members to rejoin the organization along with all other associated duties pertaining to membership.

PROGRAMS (1 position): The Programs chairs are responsible for hosting 3-4 education programs for our members a year. This includes securing a location, developing a topic and securing associated speakers, working with area vendors to obtain donations where possible for food and beverages to be served at the event, managing all event logistics and all other associated duties pertaining to programs.

CHICK FLICKS (2 positions): The Chick Flicks chairs are responsible for the annual Chick Flicks Film Festival and the WIFTI showcase. Chairs solicit submissions, screen films, select the films to be screened, develop creative, secure the venue, oversee the silent auction and manage all aspects of the Festival.

PSA (2 positions): The PSA chairs are responsible for overseeing the annual WIF.D PSA for a local charity in need of a marketing and promotion video. The application process, selection of a charity, coordination of all volunteer cast, crew and equipment and a special attention to detail when it comes to the successful completion of a full scaled video production are essential components to these board seats.

PUBLICITY/WEBMASTER (2 positions): The publicity chairs are responsible for the public message portrayed about Women In Film.Dallas. Press releases, FaceBook pages, event invitations, list serve blasts, website updates, newsletter content and all other related messaging are the critical jobs tasked to the publicity chairs.

TOPAZ (2 positions): Established in 1987 to honor distinguished Texas women and men who, through their own vision, have made outstanding contributions to the film and television industry, the Topaz chairs are responsible for hosting and organizing the annual Topaz Awards reception. The event also raises funds and awareness for our scholarships and grants.

WIFD puts the spotlight on literary agent and producer, Rogers Hartmann!

Members only event! An intimate conversation and Q&A with Hockaday School alum and industry expert, Rogers Hartmann.

While attending the University of Texas at Austin, Rogers made her way to Los Angeles each summer, where she worked on a number of Roger Corman films and worked for Geena Davis during the release of Thelma and Louise.

After graduating UT, Rogers moved to LA and was hired to assist a top literary agent and began signing writers, directors and authors. For over 10 years as an agent at Sanford-Gross, Rogers worked with such clients as Nick Kazan, Richard Price and Ron Shelton, to name a few - then opened her own boutique literary agency. Since then she has transitioned to management and producing.

Currently, her production company, Greenway Productions has partnered with Ridley Scott and Michael Costigan on Everybody Hates the Phone Company. She is also working with Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan) on an adaption of Beautiful Jim Key by Mim Eichler Rivas.

In addition to her work in film and television, Rogers is a well-known activist for Dystonia and other neurological disorders and diseases. She has appeared on Oprah with Michael J. Fox, The Today Show with Meredith Vieira and has given numerous speeches around the country. Her foundation is called BEAT DYSTONIA.

Spotlight on: Producer Bonnie Curtis

An intimate conversation and Q&A with Dallas' own Bonnie Curtis. Having produced both major studio releases and independent projects, Bonnie shared her experiences and advice at our MEMBERS ONLY event on July 1.

Attendees were treated to a brief look at her upcoming feature, Albert Nobbs starring Glenn Close, now in post production. Bonnie Curtis' credits include a close association with Steven Spielberg. Together they worked on Hook, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, A.I. and Minority Report with Tom Cruise. Fulfilling a long desire to work with a first time filmmaker, Bonnie produced The Chumscubber for first time director Arie Posen in 2005. She is now in pre-production on Posen's next feature, The Look of Love, starring Ed Harris and Diane Keaton.

In cooperation with Studio Movie Grill, Women in Film.Dallas' Chick Flicks announces a free upcoming screening of HBO Films’ IRON JAWED ANGELS at the Royal Lane location of Studio Movie Grill. Stay tuned for date and time!

IRON JAWED ANGELS tells the true story of how defiant and brilliant young activists Alice Paul and Lucy Burns took the women’s suffrage movement by storm, putting their lives at risk to help American women win the right to vote.

The film stars Hilary Swank, Frances O’Connor, Molly Parker, Julia Ormond, Patrick Dempsey, Vera Farmiga and Anjelica Huston.

IRON JAWED ANGELS is both written and directed by women.

Following the screening, Women in Film.Dallas will hold a brief Q&A to discuss women’s right in Texas and what it means to be a woman in politics. We hope the liberated women (and men) in Dallas will joins us for a liberated night of entertainment and education!

WIF.D Hosts WIFTI Showcase 2011

A collection of shorts you won't see anywhere else -- March 10!

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day this month, WIF.D's Chick Flicks invites you to a special showcase of short films from women around the world. The Women in Film and Television International (WIFTI) Short Film Showcase features filmmakers from California, Canada, Minnesota, New Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom. Described by Chick Flicks Chair Lisha Brock as "fresh, funny, unexpected, controversial, quirky and visually stunning, the showcase has something to please men and women alike."

Please join us for this special night of short films you won't see anywhere else in town. The evening will also include an array of silent auction items you won't want to miss either. Proceeds from all Chick Flicks events go to fund WIF.D's annual scholarship program.

It was 100 years ago when the United Nations put forth a day to celebrate the economic, political, and social achievements of Women past, present, and future. In places such as China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women's Day is a National Holiday. This marks the 6th year WIFTI joins in that celebration with our Short Film Showcase. These films have first been selected by the participating WIFTI Chapters from submissions created by their members. Each Chapters' selections were sent to the WIFTI screening committee to compile this, the 2011 Showcase Program. The films were all truly wonderful and WIFTI congratulates all the filmmakers on their efforts. We hope this inspires you to make your own film for next year's celebration.

Free and for Members only! This workshop explores the difference between crafting features and short films, focusing on the characteristics of what makes a good short. Several films will be screened for discussion.

THE PERFECT FAMILY, is currently in post production and stars Kathleen Turner, Emily Deschanel, Jason Ritter, and Richard Chamberlain.
