It's a party, and you're invited!

WIF.D Membership Drive & Showcase
Sept. 16, 6:30-9:30 pm

Current members get a chance to catch-up and talk about projects they have been working on. 
New members get a chance to network and become better acquainted with the organization.
Non-members get a chance to hear more about WIF.D and the great benefits it has to offer!

This evening will be the ideal occasion to learn more about the organization, hear plans about future WIF.D programs and events, and take advantage of a great opportunity to network. Members are FREE while non-members are only $10. 
 
We'll have some exciting news, refreshments, and a reel to showoff of what other members are working on. This is the time to join or rejoin!

North Texas Filmmaking Organizations Host Joint Meeting: Panelists to Discuss "The Business of Production"
 

The Dallas Producers Association, Women in Film.Dallas and the Dallas Screenwriters Association are joining together for their August meetings to bring "The Business of Production" to the local filmmaking community.

The meeting will be held at InMotion Imagery, 922 Dragon St, Dallas, TX 75207 (MAP) on Thursday, August 5, 2010. Networking will begin at 6:30 pm and is open to the public free of charge. Panel discussion will focus on insurance, taxes, legal issues, contracts, payroll - anything and everything concerning the business side of production for features to television to corporate media to documentary to commercials.
 
Featured panelists include an entertainment attorney, a production accountant, an insurance broker and a producers' services specialist.

MIKE FARRIS
is a literary agent with Farris Literary Agency and an entertainment attorney with the Dallas law firm of Tipton Jones. As an agent, Farris has put several award-winning novels in publication, successfully placing subsidiary rights to his clients' published books, including negotiating the sale of movie rights to producers and Hollywood studios. He is the 2010 Vice-chair of the Dallas Bar's Sports and Entertainment Law Section and is an adjunct professor at the University of Dallas in its Sports & Entertainment Management MBA program, where he serves on the Sports & Entertainment Advisory Board.

JEFF EVANS
is president of Roeder Moon, Inc. Evans joined Roeder & Moon in 1979 to help develop a new specialized department to serve the insurance needs of the entertainment industry. From excellent, personal service and coverage recommendations, word spread that Roeder & Moon understood film production. Today, Roeder & Moon is recognized as one of the top agencies in the state serving the needs of the film industry. Evans has served on the boards of the Dallas Producers Association, the Texas Motion Picture Alliance, and the Deep Ellum Film Festival.

ROBERT CURLIN
owns Pinpoint Ideas & Solutions, a TV and radio commercial producers' services company opened in 1994; specializing in the processes unique to TV and radio commercials, uses and industrials. Curlin oversees a national network of resources catered to commercial production needs. Well-versed in both union and right-to-work issues affecting Texas productions of all kinds, Curlin works with non-signatory ad agencies, production companies and directly with businesses throughout the country; providing consultation, production and broadcast business affairs services, which includes cast and crew payroll solutions, celebrity negotiations, packaging, and music rights clearances.

TONY ROCHA
is the senior manager of tax services at Weaver and Tidwell LLP and has more than 10 years of experience in state and local tax. He specializes in compliance, advising, planning and preparation of state and local tax audits, performing managed audits and preparing voluntary disclosure agreements for companies. He conducts sales and use tax audits for retail, contractor, manufacturing, banking, and wholesale entities and performs multi-state tax research.
