Women In Film.Dallas
is pleased to announce our two 2007 Scholarship Recipients – Sharie
DeVore and Elizabeth Daggett. Many of you may
have seen these ladies and their work showcased at our 6th
Annual Chicks Flicks Short Film Festival last Oct. 4th. Every year, Women In Film.Dallas is devoted to
offering two scholarships to women students and applicants
studying film, television, or video production. We are looking
forward to seeing more great work from these talented and
versatile women. Learn more about these ladies below; for application requirements for 2008, click here.
Sharie DeVore is
a student at North Lake College. Sharie has returned to
college to study film production after working and raising
a family. The scholarship committee was most impressed
with her music video submission along with her essay
titled, "The Music Within Me." She is employed
as a professional writer's assistant and is the recipient
of the 2007 Women In Film.Dallas $1500 undergraduate
tuition grant.
Elizabeth
Daggett is a graduate student at the University
of North Texas studying Radio-TV-Film. Her film project,
A Native American Dream, is a unique documentary focusing
on Anglo-Native America tensions in New Mexico from
the point of view of Kirby Vacuum sales people working
door-to-door in and around the Navajo reservation.
Liz submitted this project in 2006, but had not started
production yet. We were so impressed with her work;
the committee encouraged her to submit again this year
after she had some footage to show. Liz's work history
includes selling Kirby Vacuums door-to-door, which
adds to her special POV on this film. She is the recipient
of our $3500 project completion grant.
