The Angelika Film Center Mockingbird Station 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane Dallas, TX  75206 October 5, 2006 Afterparty at Margarita Ranch

The Angelika was packed with filmmakers, the Dallas Film Commish, the Dallas Video Fest Director, AFI people, WIF Members, students and teachers from SMU, North Texas, TWU,
TCU, Northlake and UT of Arlington. People flew in from LA, drove in from Ft. Worth, Arlington, Sherman, and Denton.

The line-up of 13 films made us laugh and cry. There were so many  women-produced films that made us think differently about our world, as we  face wars, poverty, aids, cancer, water shortages and more. A diversity of  women's voices played out for l70 minutes in a theater full of appreciative moviegoers. This was also the premiere of our 2006 :30 PSA benefiting the Dallas Women's Foundation.

WIF Board members worked as a team- Marla, Viv and Merillee's publicity, Jana's beautiful Chick Flick design, a splendid up-to-date website by Deb  Cornish, the fabulous after-party planned by Donatelle Mascari, the  behind-the-scenes technical work by Melanie Schuth, jury participation by Joan  Murphy-Rosenzwieg and the efforts to get the word out by all the Board Members.  We were even featured in the Dallas Morning News as the event to attend! And thanks to Marla we had a great plug on KRLD. There were many WIF members who volunteered.

Every year we grow bigger and better. And this year we exceeded our expectations. As President, I thank all of you who made this event a huge triumph and helped showcase women-made movies. This is what Women In Film.Dallas is about.
