Chick Flicks '08 In Review
Read the recap and view the photos here!

It was such an honor to share the evening and my film, PARTS, with an incredible group of creative and talented women. Thank you for all that you do for the community and the film industry...  I cannot thank you all enough for such a beautiful evening. I was honored to be a part of it. I am so proud of WIF.Dallas!

On October 2, 2008, Women In Film.Dallas celebrated female filmmakers at the 7th Annual Chick Flicks Film Festival at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas.  Showcasing the talents of Texas women in shorts, trailers, experimental works and commercials - the entries allowed each viewer to experience the unique perspective of a female producer, director or crew member who participated in the production of each project.

Despite a cold, Linda Stogner emceed and entertained the audience, preparing them for the fabulous program.  Serving on the jury were Sylvia Komatsu, Laura Neitzel and Jessica Schoenbaechler, who selected "High Hopes" by Linda Stogner and Therese Powell for the Jury Choice Award.  The Crew Girls Award went to "Parts" - featuring the talents of Art Director Lynne Moon and everyone had the opportunity to vote for the Audience Choice Award, which was also awarded to "High Hopes".

The evening held special meaning not only for filmmakers but for this year's scholarship recipients with proceeds from entry and ticket sales benefiting the WIF.D scholarship fund. Every year, Women In Film.Dallas offers two scholarships to female college students and applicants studying film, television, or video production in the North Texas region. This year, the $1500 college student tuition scholarship was awarded to Sharie Vance of UT Artlington and the $3500 college student project grant went to Arvind Singh to complete her film "The Rising Tide." Both women were selected from many applicants submitted to the WIF.D Scholarship Committee chaired by Board Members Letty Gallegos and Karen Johnson.

The Chick Flicks Film Festival was brought to you in part by FUNimation Films, Urban Taco, Entertainment Partners, Angelika Film Center, The Dallas Film Commission and AFI DALLAS International Film Festival.  Filmmakers, fans and WIF.D members mingled after the program celebrating the filmmakers and giving away some cool raffle prizes afterward at the upscale Urban Taco.  Film winners received a gift package that included festival passes to AFI DALLAS and the Dallas Video Festival, a fully loaded grip bag from MPS Studios Dallas, budgeting or scheduling software from Entertainment Partners, passes to WIF.D's highly anticipated program, "We've Got That In Development," as well as gift items from The Filmworkers Club, The Tape Company, Cabot Creamery, and Urban Taco.

Everyone at Women In Film.Dallas wishes to thank Jessica Schoenbaechler for chairing this fabulous event!  THANK YOU to the many volunteers that made this event so special and memorable!
