Originally from Coppell, TX, Cassie currently lives in Las Colinas. She attended the University of Arkansas the first two years of her college career, but decided she'd rather be closer to home, and is now starting her second year at the University of North Texas in Denton. A Journalism major and an Art History minor at UNT, Cassie hopes to graduate within the next year and a half, but won't be worried if it takes a little longer, as she has been given advice to "stay in school as long as you can." Good advice indeed!
At the University of Arkansas, Cassie wrote for The Arkansas Traveler -
her school newspaper. She wrote an array of stories varying from a news
story about expensive cross walk signs that were being stolen on campus
in the middle of the night, to a story about Vietnam for the school's
Centennial edition of the paper. She found it fascinating to dig through past
copies of the Traveler in the library archives and find out what U of A students in the late ‘60s thought and had to
say about the war. While she has found satisfaction and enjoyment in
writing stories, she doesn't think that newspaper writing is her true calling.
Currently, Cassie is a Marketing Assistant at MPS Studios Dallas. She has worked at MPS for over a year and loves her job, assisting her boss Meredith Stephens, and helping to put together marketing materials and newsletters, impose internal and external communications, and meet a lot of amazing people. Through her experience at MPS, Cassie has learned how to better use her resources and talents wisely and is very grateful for the opportunity to work at such a wonderful facility with such great people.
Cassie became a member of Women in Film.Dallas in the summer of 2007 and shortly after, was given the responsibility of the Administrator Assistant for the organization. As Administrator, she checks the mail, helps with membership, attends board meetings and fills in the blanks whenever and wherever she can. It was her dedication, thoroughness, positive and mature attitude that earned the Secretary position of Women In Film.Dallas. She takes both of her jobs with WIF.D very seriously and is extremely appreciative for the experience with the organization and hopes to be a part of WIF.D for many years to come.
Although Cassie really enjoys the film industry and has gotten to learn a lot, her main interest is in books. After she graduates, Cassie hopes to break into the book publishing industry, in fiction and non-fiction, to become a publisher or an editor.
When Cassie has free time, she enjoys reading a great book, writing in her journal, going on long walks with her mom, having wonderful conversations with her sister, discussing and looking at art with her dad, watching her nieces grow up, spending quality time with her wonderful friends, and reminding people that "life is too short".
