2008 Humanitarian Award
In the 24 years Topaz has been held, the Humanitarian Award has only
been presented once. This year, we will again make history. We proudly salute
Garry Brown and the great strides he has taken to support the Dallas
production community.
Mr. Brown spent several years in Dallas as a part of “Walker, Texas Ranger”.
He played an instrumental role in bringing the internationally acclaimed “Prison
Break” to North Texas, and spent countless hours in the state capital fighting
for production incentives, testifying before special committees and sharing his
story with legislators. Mr. Brown’s continued affirmation of Texas crews,
talent, locations, and infrastructure has brought studio attention, exposure,
and more work to Texas and his dedication to mentoring and providing
opportunities to others paves the way for further development of our crew base.
Additionally, Garry and his wife Renee contribute to countless charity and
community efforts, proving their commitment to the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
