Tania Khalaf is the recipient of a $3500 project completion grant for her documentary-in-progress, Born in Beirut. Born in Beirut is a thoughtful and poetic examination of war through the eyes of a child.

Born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, Tania worked as a producer, editor, and drama teacher before moving to the U.S. She has a BA in Drama from the Lebanese University and is currently pursuing an MFA in Documentary Production from the University of North Texas. Her short documentary, “still, life.” co-produced with Meta Newhouse, won the "Best Documentary Short" at the Austin Film Festival in 2005.

Mary Benedicto is the recipient of a $1500 project completion grant for her series of Video Paintings. Mary has completed several elements in the series. You can see an installation of some of her work at the American Airlines Center in the near future. She is also affiliated with the Plush Gallery where her work is often seen. Mary is a graduate student at the University of Texas at Dallas and is completing her Masters in Art and Technology.

Congratulations to these talented filmmakers!
