Women In Film.Dallas Educational Opportunities
Public Service Announcement
Each year,
the WIF.D Board of Directors chooses a local non-profit organization from a
preferred list submitted by our annual sponsors. Our members kindly donate their
time and talent to produce a marketing video. The rewards of volunteering for a
PSA production are enormous, both personally and professionally. Our recent
recipient, The Bridge Breast Network, is a local organization providing medical
care for women and men diagnosed with breast cancer. Other organizations
previously recommended and selected include Meals On Wheels, Dallas Women’s
Foundation, and Gilda’s Club.
Scholarships
Every year, Women In
Film.Dallas is devoted to offering, through an application process, two
scholarships to female college students studying film, television, or video
production in the North Texas region. A $1500 college student tuition
scholarship and a $3500 college student project grant are awarded to talented
ladies who are honored at the annual Topaz Awards Gala event. Providing
financial assistance through these scholarships has been a primary mission of
WIF.D for years.
Internships
Through the Women In
Film.Dallas intern program, members provide career assistance in the form of
opportunities and familiarization in the film/video industry to college-age
women and men with diversified backgrounds. The internships can be personalized
to accommodate the needs of the student and sponsor. Our internship program
links sponsors with aspiring film students and other prospective interns seeking
experience, contacts, and resumé material.
Mentorship
Women In Film.Dallas offers
opportunities within the mentorship program both to entry-level and professional
women and men, to advance their knowledge and careers. Whether entering the
industry or seeking to advance in their current position, the mentorship program
offers guidance and direction, allowing individuals to acquire a deeper
understanding of the industry’s business practices with one-on-one interaction.
Women In Film.Dallas Annual Events
Topaz Awards Gala
For years, the Topaz
Awards Gala has evoked the glamour of the past by honoring distinguished Texas
women of the present. This occasion allows us to recognize the outstanding
contributions, dedication, and trailblazing efforts of individuals within the
film and television industry. Past recipients of Topaz Awards are a veritable
“Who’s Who” of achievement, offering inspiration and vision to all who attend.
Within a beautiful setting, the Topaz Awards Gala provides an opportunity to
express our gratitude to these women as role models in the entertainment
industry.
Chick Flicks Film Festival
Chick Flicks
Film Festival is an annual event open to all female filmmakers, showcasing new
and seasoned international talent. As one of the most important fundraising
events for Women In Film.Dallas, the proceeds from tickets and entry fees
benefit our scholarship foundation. Each entry is eligible for the coveted
“Audience Choice” and “Sponsors’ Choice” awards. Meet and greet the filmmakers,
fans, and WIF.D members at a lively cocktail party before the show, then
celebrate the winners with fabulous prizes at the awards ceremony.
Monthly Networking Opportunities
Programming
Women In Film.Dallas is
focused on offering bi-monthly educational programs and networking events to its
members and non-members. A diversity of topics cover everything from Sony HD
Media and Format Technologies, Audio: From Production to Post, to
The World Wide Web and You: Marketing Yourself on the Internet; in
addition to our many premieres and panel discussions. Often times we collaborate
with our sponsors to create events focused on financial planning, business
development, and work/life balance. WIF.D programs offer something for everyone
at every level.
Martini Madness
A Women In Film.Dallas
tradition, Martini Madness provides a casual opportunity to mix and mingle with
our members and industry movers and shakers. WIF.D invites sponsors, members,
and newcomers to share food, drinks, and experiences in an informal atmosphere
at various friendly and chic Dallas venues. Members are even encouraged to leave
business cards and marketing materials on the WIF.D promotional table. Get your
name, face, and business recognized while you enjoy a night out on the town!
