    Providing financial assistance through scholarships and grants has been a primary goal and mission of WIF.D since the beginning. In 2013, we will offer one college tuition scholarship (undergraduate or graduate level) and two grants, one a finishing fund and the other a production grant for a female high school student.

    $2,500 Finishing Fund Grant Guidelines:

    Submission Deadline is June 29. 

    The $2,500 Finishing Funds Grant is presented to a current Women In Film.Dallas member, professional, student or corporate to help complete an existing project. New membership is encouraged for consideration! The recipient of this grant will select the production house or services company that will best help them complete their project. Grant monies will be paid directly to the participating production house.

    Applicant must be:
    *Female and current member of WIF.D
    *Presenting an existing project that is ready for post production services

    Required Documents:
    *Completed application form
    *Sample footage (online link preferable) of the work in progress, no longer than ten (10) minutes, with a one (1) page description of content. To mail us a DVD, please see address below.
    *Project Documentation: written proposal consisting of treatment, character descriptions, shooting schedule, budget and any other information the applicant deems appropriate.
    *Self-addressed, stamped padded envelope for return of work samples (if applicable)

    $500 High School Production Grant Guidelines:

    Submission Deadline is June 29. 

    The purpose of this grant is to give the student the means to create an original short film that will showcase their talent and help secure future work in the industry after graduation. Up to $500 will be reimbursed in production receipts on completion and delivery of trailer or clip for promotion on our website.

    Applicant must be:
    *A North Texas female High School student.
    *Presenting a project that is ready for production. Either a fully realized idea, treatment or completed script.

    Required Documents:
    *Completed application form.
    *Personal statement.
    *Copy of treatment, script or synopsis of idea.

    Providing financial assistance through scholarships and grants has been a primary goal and mission of WIF.D since the beginning. In 2013, we offer two grants and a college scholarship (undergraduate or graduate).

    The $2,500 College Tuition Scholarship is offered to a female college student studying film, television, or video production in the North Texas region. Scholarship is paid directly to the recipient's college.

    Our Scholarship and Grant winners will be presented at the 2013 Chick Flicks Festival in October at the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station.

    $2,500 College/University Student Tuition Scholarship Guidelines
    Submission Deadline is June 29
     
    Applicant must be:
    *Female
    *Student at an accredited North Texas junior college or university
    *Majoring in or primary field of study is film or video
    *Consistently maintained a 3.0 average on a 4.0 scale

    Required Documents:
    *Completed application form
    *A brief essay, not more than three (3) double-spaced typewritten pages, on what inspired you to study film or video.
    *A short sample of your work (online link preferable). Please include a clear description of the projects shown and your role in them. 
    *Letters of recommendation from two (2) individuals. These letters of recommendation must be submitted directly to WIF.D via our email address or mailing address (see below). Recommendations should be from a teacher or individual that has some knowledge of your abilities and is qualified by his or her background or experience to judge your work. If you are unable to find two experienced individuals to do this, you may submit one professional recommendation and a second from an individual who can personally recommend you.
    *A letter from the College/University submitted directly to WIF.D via our email address or mailing address (see below) stating your name and status as a student.
    *Self-addressed, stamped padded envelope for return of work samples (if applicable).

    Please note, previous winners are not eligible to apply for this scholarship, but may submit an application for the Finishing Fund Grant.

    Show Us Your Shorts!

    Submissions are now open for the 12th Annual Chick Flicks Festival.

    The short film competition is on Thursday, October 3. We have a Jury, Audience, and Student Award to give away this year with some very useful prize packages. And our esteemed Jury includes Dallas Film Critic Julie Fisk and Executive Director of SAG-AFTRA DFW Local Trish Avery. These women will decide the Jury and Student Award winners.

    Student Award winner will receive one-year Subscription Adobe Creative Cloud
    (Jury and Audience Awards packages will be announced at a later date)

    Film requirements:
    • Filmmaker with Texas Ties
    • 30 minutes (max)
    • Must have at least two women in a key role: Director, Producer, Director of Photography, Actor, Writer, Animator, and/or Editor

    Cost (lowest prices in years!):

    • Member (WIFD) - $10
    • Student - $15
    • Non-Member - $20
    Postmarked Deadline for Regular: July 26, 2013
    Postmarked Deadline for Final: August 9, 2013

    • Non-Member - $25

    This year your submissions will also be considered for to the Women in Film and Television International Showcase that will screen March 2014 in various cities around the world. 

    *MUST BE A MEMBER OF WIF.D TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE WIFTI SHOWCASE*
