FESTIVAL PROMO SCRIPT CONTEST

Submissions are open for our 3^rd Chick Flicks Festival promo script contest. Here's your opportunity to get your script produced by the talented women in the Dallas film community. Good news for students, we have a reduced entry fee for you!

We are looking for a short promotional piece to open up the festival, much like the tease pieces before films at SXSW and other film festivals. We want a piece that gets the audience excited about Flicks by Chicks!

Prize: The winning script will be produced and screened at the 12^th Annual Chick Flicks Festival, October 3, 2013. The short will also be posted on the WIF.D website. Plus, the winner will receive 2 tickets for The Chick Flicks Festival to watch the final product on the big screen.

Who Can Enter: The contest is open to anyone with Texas ties.

Length: 1-3 pages

Genre: Inspiring, Comedic or Action/Thriller. Positive and entertaining!

Theme: The script should promote Women in Film.Dallas’ Chick Flicks Festival and reflect women as a positive force in media.

Entry Deadline: May 24th

$15 Non-Members / $10 Students / FREE to WIF.D Members

Late Entry Deadline: May 31st

$20 Non-Members / $15 Students / $5 WIF.D Members

Entry fee is non-refundable. More than one entry may be submitted. Each must be submitted separately. Submissions will not be returned. Screenplays must be the original work of the person submitting and entrant must agree to sign documents necessary for production by WIF.D if script is selected.

To submit your script, click the "Register" button on the left. The script should be in PDF format or hard copy.

Providing financial assistance through scholarships and grants has been a primary goal and mission of WIF.D since the beginning. In 2013, we offer two grants and a college scholarship (undergraduate or graduate).

The $2,500 College Tuition Scholarship is offered to a female college student studying film, television, or video production in the North Texas region. Scholarship is paid directly to the recipient's college.

Our Scholarship and Grant winners will be presented at the 2013 Chick Flicks Festival in October at the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station.

$2,500 College/University Student Tuition Scholarship Guidelines
Submission Deadline is June 29.

Applicant must be:
*Female
*Student at an accredited North Texas junior college or university
*Majoring in or primary field of study is film or video
*Consistently maintained a 3.0 average on a 4.0 scale

Required Documents:
*Completed application form
*A brief essay, not more than three (3) double-spaced typewritten pages, on what inspired you to study film or video.
*A short sample of your work (online link preferable). Please include a clear description of the projects shown and your role in them.

*Letters of recommendation from two (2) individuals. These letters of recommendation must be submitted directly to WIF.D via our email address or mailing address (see below). Recommendations should be from a teacher or individual that has some knowledge of your abilities and is qualified by his or her background or experience to judge your work. If you are unable to find two experienced individuals to do this, you may submit one professional recommendation and a second from an individual who can personally recommend you.
*A letter from the College/University submitted directly to WIF.D via our email address or mailing address (see below) stating your name and status as a student.
*Self-addressed, stamped padded envelope for return of work samples (if applicable).

Please note, previous winners are not eligible to apply for this scholarship, but may submit an application for the Finishing Fund Grant.

$2,500 Finishing Fund Grant Guidelines:

Submission Deadline is June 29.

The $2,500 Finishing Funds Grant is presented to a current Women In Film.Dallas member, professional, student or corporate to help complete an existing project. New membership is encouraged for consideration! The recipient of this grant will select the production house or services company that will best help them complete their project. Grant monies will be paid directly to the participating production house.

Applicant must be:
*Female and current member of WIF.D
*Presenting an existing project that is ready for post production services

Required Documents:
*Completed application form
*Sample footage (online link preferable) of the work in progress, no longer than ten (10) minutes, with a one (1) page description of content. To mail us a DVD, please see address below.
*Project Documentation: written proposal consisting of treatment, character descriptions, shooting schedule, budget and any other information the applicant deems appropriate.
*Self-addressed, stamped padded envelope for return of work samples (if applicable)

$500 High School Production Grant Guidelines:

Submission Deadline is June 29.

The purpose of this grant is to give the student the means to create an original short film that will showcase their talent and help secure future work in the industry after graduation. Up to $500 will be reimbursed in production receipts on completion and delivery of trailer or clip for promotion on our website.

Applicant must be:
*A North Texas female High School student.
*Presenting a project that is ready for production. Either a fully realized idea, treatment or completed script.

Required Documents:
*Completed application form.
*Personal statement.
*Copy of treatment, script or synopsis of idea.

bragging all night long. WIF.D invites you to join us at

our Membership Showcase. You'll get to know members, old and new; and their work.

Here's an opportunity to meet your mentor or mentee,

a colleague, or a new friend!

Join us for a night of film, food, and fun.

WIF.D members, you can submit your demo, footage, or short project to showcase your skills as a producer, director, DP, editor, make-up artist, animator, costume designer, hair-stylist, writer, actor, stunt performer, etc.

NOT A MEMBER YET? Come! We want to get to know you. And, if you have a reel you would like to submit, it's not too late to join. As soon as you become a member, you are eligible to participate!

Submit your up to 3-minute* scene, clip, demo or photos** no later than Midnight, May 24, to membership@wifdallas.org, subject line - VIDEO.

*Submissions missing the deadline or longer than 3 minutes will not be included on the reel.

**Yes, if your work is documented with photos (sorry, no headshots), we want those, too.

We're also compiling a reel of your music to play at the June 13 WIF.D Membership Showcase.
